(ROCKVILLE, MD — June 10, 2025) — Quantum Space, a defense space tech company, today announced the close of a $40 million Series A extension with participation from Prime Movers Lab, Sporos Capital, 1802 Ventures, AnD Ventures and others. This funding will accelerate the development of Ranger, Quantum Space’s maneuver-first spacecraft platform purpose-built for dynamic, multi-orbit defense missions.

“America needs modern systems that respond to the rise of hypersonic weapons, and anti-satellite threats, that is why we created Quantum Space’s Ranger fleet, offering persistent presence, rapid maneuverability, and mission configurability for contested orbital environments,” said Kerry Wisnosky, CEO of Quantum Space. “Ranger is built to compete in this era. The mission is clear, and the time is now.”

The Series A extension funding bring the total for the round to $57 million, adding to the $17 million raised for Series A last year. Quantum Space is directing the funding to support hardware development and the strategic shift toward national defense, including:

·      Accelerate Ranger Development: Advance spacecraft build-out and testing to boost technical readiness.

·      Scale a High-Impact Team: Grow engineering talent with a focus on mission execution.

·      Elevate Contracting: Pursue major defense contracts aligned with national defense priorities and commercial life extension opportunities

“We are very pleased to be partnering with Quantum Space as we believe they are uniquely positioned to play a pivotal role in supporting our national defense needs in space,” said Nishant Machado, Managing Partner of Sporos Capital. “Their Ranger platform is uniquely suited to support next-generation initiatives like Golden Dome, and we believe Quantum Space can help reshape how the U.S. operates in orbit.”

Quantum Space has secured multiple contracts in the government and commercial sectors, including two U.S. defense contracts approximately$30 million, supporting their shift in mission and reinforcing the broad demand for its maneuver-first architecture.

Recently, the company added Richard S. Matlock as Head of National Defense Programs. Matlock is a former Missile Defense Agency executive and DoD senior leader with 40+ years’ experience. He joins a team of space and defense veterans, including Quantum Space CEO Kerry Wisnosky who previously served as the Co-founder of Millennium Engineering and Integration, with 30+ years leading technical teams for DoD, National Security, and Homeland security customers. As well as Dr. Kam Ghaffarian, the company’s Co-Founder and Executive Chairman, who has also Co-founder of X-energy, Axiom Space, and Intuitive Machines.
